Connecting the Go with a compatible hub requires the same pairing process as any other Hue device. You don't have to pair the Go with a hub or a smartphone to use it, but doing so allows you to unlock some of its cooler features, like the ability to set alarms and create custom lighting scenes via the Philips Hue app. It requires a proprietary charging cable. Philips claims 20,000 hours of light, which is equivalent to just over two years of continuous use, or 20 years of use based on three hours per day, seven days a week. The Go uses a rechargeable lithium-ion battery so you can carry it around and use the light for up to three hours chances are you'll probably keep it plugged into the same spot most of the time.
